Ne’Jha Cox was making a quick late-night run to the store on May 18, 2024. She reportedly intended to pick up juice for her 2-year-old son. The outing, however, turned fatal for Cox, who was in the vehicle with her son. The car was targeted by members of the YSL gang. The group was reportedly looking for the gunman behind the shooting at Lil Baby’s music video in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 13, 2024. Ultimately, the group misidentified the car Cox was driving as the shooter’s. She was killed in front of her son.
So far, one man has been convicted of the 21-year-old’s murder. But the investigation is far from over.
Now, The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is speaking with Amanda Green, the Senior Assistant District Attorney of Fulton County, on ‘TSR Investigates.’ What’s next in receiving justice for Ne’Jha Cox?
In conversation with Carter, Green explained that Lil Baby’s May 2024 music video shoot was targeted by a shooter in a rival gang. In addition, she explained that the shooter was believed to be a resident of the same community from which Cox was seen leaving on May 18, 2024.
Surveillance footage from the evening captured a gray vehicle apparently scoping out the area. Minutes later, three hooded individuals are seen walking around the area. Ultimately, the footage shows the vehicle Cox was driving apparently being ambushed by bullets.
The “worst part,” Green says, is that Cox’s son witnessed it all.
Per Carter, it was determined that the gunman behind the shooting at Lil Baby’s music video drove a Blue nissan. Furthermore, the Nissan driven by Cox on the fatal evening was black.
Jamal Baker was eventually identified as one of the three hooded individuals. Per Green, his legal team, however, seemingly intended to put up the best fight they could to protect their client. Scroll above to watch as Amanda Green breaks down the evidence used to convict Baker. Additionally, she explains why the YSL gang needs to be brought to justice. Lastly, Carter shares a statement from Baker’s defense while detailing how the District Attorney’s office plans to bring the other two shooters to justice.
