Fresh off a courtroom loss the day prior, Boosie continued to hold his head high, telling fans, “They can’t take this away!” Here’s what happened.
Boosie Gets Honored With TWO Degrees
On Saturday, May 10, the Baton Rouge native was living his best life performing at Funk Fest in Jacksonville, Florida. The event leveled up when Kingdom Heritage University officials hit the stage to honor him with not one but two honorary doctorate degrees in Music Composition and Music Management. The crowd was clearly hyped for Boosie, making the moment that much more special. Boosie, wearing a graduation gown, appeared excited as the university official dropped some words about his impact.
“You have carried your story raw, honestly,” they said. “Your pain has not been wasted, your platform has a purpose. Your legacy is just beginning. We know your name as Lil Boosie, heaven will now know you as Dr. Hatch.”
The concert quite literally turned into a graduation-like ceremony, and Boosie was soaking in every second of it.

Additionally, on Sunday, May 11, the 42-year-old took to Instagram to spill his heart about the special on-stage moment. With a big smile on his face, he said, “Like, I’m a doctor. Doctor Hatch. I’m a doctor, dog.” But it wasn’t all smiles leading up to the honor.
Boosie announced a courtroom defeat on Friday, May 10, as prosecutors successfully appealed his firearm possession case, overturning
the prior dismissal. In 2023,
authorities arrested Boosie after catching him with a firearm on his IG Live and charged him with possession of a weapon by a felon. The setback had him feeling down for a little bit. However, those two degrees appeared to have helped to lift his spirit right back up.
“I’ma be fighting these people again… but I got my faith up,” Boosie shared. “And it’s crazy ‘cos I was down down Friday, and yesterday is Saturday. Heritage University made me a doctor […] This s**t crazy. This s**t feel like— I wanted to cry.” He added, “One thing happen and– they can never take this away from me.”
