DJ Daniel, the 13-year-old cancer survivor whom Donald Trump named an honorary U.S. agent, is facing a new battle. The Houston native has been busy traveling the country and collecting honors from law enforcement agencies. Recently, he was diagnosed with several new tumors.
On Friday, May 30, the White House’s official X (formerly known as Twitter) account delivered an unfortunate update, sharing with its 1.9 million followers that Daniel is facing new health problems.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the post read, leaving social media users shocked. Meanwhile, Theodis, Daniel’s dad, opened up about the emotional toll of this heartbreaking development.
“Just winging it day by day. He does have three new tumors,” he said. “It’s rough, there isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
No further details have been shared about Daniel’s condition. However, a quick scroll through his official Instagram account indicates that the teen is still living his best life. Despite the diagnosis, he’s been crisscrossing the country, showing up and showing out at law enforcement agencies to accept his well-deserved honors. The strength of this young man is clearly unmatched, ya’ll!

According to Fox26 Houston, the young warrior, who’s been battling brain cancer since he was just 6, has been sworn into over 1,300 law enforcement agencies nationwide so far.
Just last week, on Monday, May 19, he rolled through Williamson County, Texas, to be sworn in as an honorary member of WilCo’s law enforcement agencies. The WilCo, Texas, Instagram page posted a heartwarming carousel of Daniel in his police uniform, cheesing next to officers.
“Today, 13-year-old DJ Daniel, who has battled brain cancer since age 6, was sworn in as an honorary officer and deputy by multiple Williamson County law enforcement agencies,” the caption read. “We were honored to welcome him to the Wilco family.”
Daniel’s week was booked and busy because he also snagged the title of honorary five-star general, presented by U.S. Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn.
In a touching moment shared on Daniel’s Instagram, Flynn gave a shout-out to the teen’s courage at a law enforcement gala. “President Trump honored this young man for his incredible courage, and last night I met him,” Flynn said. “He’s just a really cool kid.”
That’s when Michael broke the news to Daniel that he was being honored as a five-star general in the US Army, prompting guests to erupt in cheers and clap. DJ Daniel’s spirit is clear proof that no diagnosis can dim his shine.
