The federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs kicked off on Monday in New York City with explosive opening statements. And, prosecutors did not hold back as they laid out disturbing claims involving the hip-hop mogul, his former partner Cassie, and others.
According to federal prosecutors, Diddy allegedly orchestrated sex-fueled gatherings dubbed “Freak Offs,” “Wild King Nights,” or “Hotel Nights.” These events, they say, involved male escorts, drugs, and cash payments. Prosecutors claim his staff arranged travel, hotel accommodations, and even prepped rooms with lubricants and mood lighting. At one of these gatherings, they allege Diddy forced a sex worker to urinate in Cassie’s mouth — one of several graphic accusations that apparently left the courtroom visibly shaken.
The feds also allege Diddy subjected Cassie to brutal physical abuse, including kicking her in the back, physically flinging her around, and stomping on her face in an SUV. They claim he then hid her in a hotel for a week to cover up her injuries. He also allegedly used sex tapes to blackmail her, threatening to release them if she left.
Prosecutors introduced another alleged victim, referred to as Jane Doe, a single mother who reportedly began a relationship with Diddy in 2020. They claim she believed her first “freak off” would be a one-time experience, but was repeatedly forced into the parties. She allegedly vomited during one and was still forced to continue. The feds say Diddy prohibited the use of condoms and used drugs and intimidation to control her.
The prosecution says former assistant Mia and other escorts are set to testify, along with Cassie herself. Diddy faces five federal charges and has pled not guilty. His defense claims all acts were consensual.
Nearly a week after surveillance footage surfaced showing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs assaulting Cassie, she broke her silence on the 2016 incident. Cassie’s statement, shared on May 23, marked the first time she publicly addressed the viral video and Diddy’s subsequent apology. While her lawyer had issued at least two statements, and her husband, Alex Fine, posted a letter on domestic abuse, Cassie (whose legal name is Casandra Fine) chose to share her personal thoughts through Instagram. In less than an hour, her post garnered over 16,000 comments and more than 212,000 likes. She expressed gratitude to her “family, friends, and strangers” for their unwavering support. And, acknowledged that the love shown had helped her feel safe and provided a sense of healing.
“I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.”
Cassie emphasized that while she’s in a better place today, she will always be in recovery from the trauma of her past. She also expressed her deep appreciation for those who have taken her experience seriously, requesting that people continue to believe victims from the start. She explained, “It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.”
