Roomies, it looks like ‘Anxiety’ wasn’t just the name of Doechii’s hit single—it may have been her mood heading into the Met Gala! The rapper had what appears to be an uneasy moment ahead of her big debut Monday night. And, she made it very clear she did not want anyone peeping her look before she hit the carpet.
On Wednesday afternoon (May 7), Doechii responded to the viral footage of her yelling at her team while heading to the Met Gala. In her response, she posted a video on her Instagram stories with her hands up, jokingly captioned, “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”
Doechii appeared to shrug off the intense reaction to the moment, making light of the situation. The rapper also followed the light-hearted video with a statement that mentioned being “so so so proud” of her team, adding “everyone killed it.”

According to viral footage making rounds on TikTok, Doechii was posted up at The Mark Hotel—aka the pre-Met Gala hotspot—when some unexpected flashes from photographers set her off. Sis — who was already dressed for the event — whipped around quick, and called for her team to cover her up immediately.
“Give me another umbrella—now! I need four fu*king umbrellas,” she snapped, appearing frustrated. Meanwhile, her security scrambled to shield her, even going so far as to wheel her out inside a literal wardrobe screen to keep her look hidden.
But, Doechii was saving the reveal of her Pharrell x Louis Vuitton look—a custom coat and trouser short set honoring the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme. Despite the stress, sis ate the Met Gala carpet up. “I’m a little nervous,” she admitted to Vogue. “But it feels really good… I’m present, I’m here,” she added.
Social media wasted no time chiming in on Doechii’s Met Gala moment, with some calling her out and others claiming she’s protecting her fashion moment. In a viral clip posted by TikTok user @yougotclipped59, fans are running to their comment section with mixed reactions.
One TikTok user @ry_pearson commented, “Maybe if they did their job right she wouldn’t have to micromanage ”
TikTok user @@noma_s_ added, “HER TEAM WAS NOT PREPARED AND THATS UNACCEPTABLE. Her reaction is justified. This is her first Met Gala.”

And, in another video posted by the same user, Doechii apparently further shows her frustration with those walking her to her car. Security was yelling at folks to clear a path while she shouted for tighter coverage: “Move these umbrellas. I don’t want these people fu*king seeing me.” She continues, “Move the umbrella! Get closer! Are you blocking it?” she asked repeatedly.

It wasn’t just Doechii feeling the heat ahead of fashion’s biggest night—other stars were clearly overwhelmed too. In the early hours of Tuesday, May 6, Megan Thee Stallion took to her Instagram Story to share a relatable moment featuring a photo of SpongeBob SquarePants hunched over with wide, stressed eyes, giving full “I’ve had enough” energy.
While Megan didn’t add any caption, the meme appears to say it all—nerves were definitely high. Between Doechii reportedly snapping at her team to keep her look hidden and Megan dropping cryptic SpongeBob memes, it’s clear the Met Gala pressure was very real this year.
