Rod Wave was reportedly released after being arrested on multiple offenses in Georgia on Tuesday, May 20.
According to USA Today, Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested on a total of 14 charges on Tuesday. Per the outlet, the artist was booked into Fulton County Jail. However, he was released later that day.
Per booking records, Wave was arrested on charges of:
aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm or knife… pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, two counts of reckless conduct, two counts of criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree, two counts of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, two counts of felony tampering with evidence, simple assault, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Additionally, it’s reported that the charges are related to an incident that occurred on April 21. At this time, details about the incident remain unclear. However, the outlet has reached out to Wave’s rep and law enforcement for further details and comment. Lastly, at this time, Rod Wave has not shared a statement or publicly reacted to the arrest reports.
Nonetheless, social media users shared reactions to the news concerning Rod Wave in The Shade Room’s comment section.
According to AllHipHop, internet users are speculating that Rod Wave’s recent arrest could be due to an alleged altercation with his current girlfriend, Mini Barbie, also known as Nari. The outlet reports that social media speculation alleged Wave “may have fired at her or her vehicle.” However, that speculation remains unconfirmed. As The Shade Room previously reported, in March, Wave spoke out after Barbie and Dee, the mother of his children, had a back-and-forth online.
Additionally, Dee alleged that Wave had still been hitting her line despite being with Barbie. Ultimately, Wave took to social media to share an emotional apology, seemingly for the public antics.
